CPC Film Series and Gallery Walk highlight Episode #230
By Paul Miller

On this episode of the Knightly News Podcast, we welcome Dylan Bowman and Nik Hogan, two corporate communication alumni, who will be presenting their original films at the upcoming CPC Film Series. On the second segment of the show, we welcome Dr. Amanda Stuckey to recap the winter term’s Gallery Walk, where Arsenio Humphrey won the competition, to chat about the event and its impact on campus.
On the first segment, discussions with Bowman and Hogan center on their creative processes in creating their original work. Bowman will screen a rescored “Vintage” and a new film, “Plaster Heart,” while Hogan will screen his original animated short, “Nik and Trevor: The First Day.”
For Bowman, while he had screened “Vintage” in July of 2023 at the CPC Film Series, we has spent the last several years working with a composer to rescore the film in the style of the work’s aesthetic. For “Plaster Heart,” Bowman describes how they filmed the piece in two days and the hardships that came along with the brief production schedule.
For Hogan, the CPC Film Series will be the premiere of “Nik and Trevor,” as he is still working to put the finishing touches on the piece. It will be released online after the premiere. During the podcast, Hogan discussed his creative process and how this film has evolved since he was in elementary school.
The 31st edition of the CPC Film Series will take place on May 29 in the Capital Blue Cross Theatre at Central Penn College, with the doors opening at 6 p.m. and the show starting at 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, with refreshments available via donation to the Knightly News. You can visit the Facebook event here for more information.
On the second segment of the podcast, we welcome English faculty Dr. Amanda Stuckey and Knightly News Reporter Arsenio Humphrey to discuss the Gallery Walk event from the winter term, a public-facing class project from Stuckey’s ENG105 class.
The event, which was held in the Charles T. Jones Leadership Library, afforded students in the class an opportunity to present their research to the campus community. On the episode, Stuckey shared her perspective on why this approach was beneficial for students.
Humphrey, who was the “Fan’s Choice” winner at the event, shared more about his project, entitled “ChatCPC,” a play on the popular AI model ChatGPT. In his work, he did primary research with students who navigate academia with this new tool, sharing the difficulties of understanding different faculty policies around this technology.
