Knightly News Episode #237 talks medical assisting, bids farewell to longtime host

On Episode #237 of the Knightly News Podcast, we welcome Central Penn College Health Sciences Instructor Chris Adams to share about the medical assisting program. In the second segment, Knightly News Co-Adviser Paul Miller offers his final podcast as a host, walking through the club’s history and thanking the people who made it possible along the way.

During the first segment of the show, Adams talks about his path to teaching, which included stops in the military, as an EMS first responder, and a variety of positions in healthcare. Adams, a two-time Central Penn College alum, tells an interesting story about being offered a position as a full-time faculty member in 2021.

Also on the podcast is Knightly News Co-Vice President Jules Quare. During the show, she shared more about the recent story that she did on Central Penn’s medical assisting program, one of a series of five articles from Quare featuring several of the college’s health sciences offerings. Her most recent story about medical assisting can be found here.

For Quare, this was her final podcast during her time at Central Penn College. Quare will be graduating at the end of the summer term with a degree in surgical technology.

As the show came to a close, Adams also shared more about the progress of a proposed bachelor’s degree in public health, something Central Penn College is currently in the process of developing under the guidance of Adams.

On the second segment of the podcast, Dr. Paul Miller is featured on his final podcast episode as a host. Miller, who has hosted all 237 episodes of the Knightly News Podcast since its inception, is leaving the college at the end of the summer term.

In this episode, Miller took a walk down memory lane, remembering the important people who have helped the club become what it is today. This includes former students, faculty and staff who have made a mark on the Central Penn College’s student news organization over the years.

And while this is Miller’s last episode of the Knightly News Podcast, he used the opportunity to reflect on the many memories, milestones and people who made the experience meaningful throughout its 237-episode run.
