Knights split doubleheader on men’s “Senior Day”

Central Penn Knights basketball split a doubleheader against Berkeley College on Saturday, with the Lady Knights winning 60 – 48 and the men’s team losing 98 – 86.

The Lady Knights put together one of their best all-around efforts on the season, getting significant contributions from many of the players on the team.

Guards Tahniyaah Jackson and Sydney Bubb both scored 16 points, leading the scoring attack from the Knights. Center Jahrae Patterson contributed 12 points and an eye-popping 21 rebounds in the victory.

Bubb was named the Knightly News Player of the Game.

The Lady Knights have two more games on the 2021-22 season. They travel to Trinity Washington on Feb. 19 and return for their final home game on Feb. 25.

The men’s team fought hard throughout their contest against Berkeley but ultimately came up short, dropping the game 98 – 86.

The team was led by forwards Randy Dupont and Tyler Hunter, both scoring 18 points, with Hunter adding 17 rebounds. Both were named Knightly News Co-Players of the Game.

The Knights held a strong six-point lead at halftime after leading the entire first half, but could not keep up with Berkeley guard Dontel Henry, who scored 37 points in the victory.

The final home contest on the season for the men marked “Senior Day” for the Knights. Dupont was recognized in a pregame ceremony for his impact on the team during his tenure.
