SGA has new officers
They’ll be installed in August

Results of Central Penn’s Student Government Association (SGA) election are in.
Danasia Morris is president.
DiGreg Stevenson is vice president.
Arsenio Humphrey is secretary.
Sarah Henry is treasurer.
The students will begin their terms with an Aug. 19 meeting for the officers only. Central Penn’s SGA operates on a cycle of three meetings, two of which are closed planning sessions, and one that is an open meeting. Terms run for an academic year, and officers can run for reelection.
Engagement Coordinator Abbee Breski, who is the SGA adviser, released the results during Week 3, after students cast votes by email, using a Microsoft Form, during Week 1 and Week 2.
“All individuals who were elected are very involved in the campus community,” Breski said in an email to The Knightly News. “I believe this group will bring many ideas and feedback that will better our community as a whole.”
Morris shared some thoughts on her agenda during her presidency.
“I want to plan to advocate for more school spirit,” she said. “Getting more people out to participate in the activities we have here on campus, whether it be a campus clean up or a paint-and-sip night. I want to also advocate more for the tutoring programs and let students know that there are options and ways to help each other.”
Leadership and supporting students are big parts of why Morris ran for SGA.
“I want to improve my leadership skills, but I also wanted to represent my peers and be their voice,” she said. “This leadership position allows me to branch out not only to my peers but to faculty and staff being able to also connect with them and network for what the students are looking for and how to help their academic needs.”
Breski said she values different perspectives and community involvement, especially when people are willing to lend a hand.
“I am very excited to see the projects this group will put together,” she said, adding that she and the SGA officers are “always looking for students to join us whether you are residential, commuter, or online.”
An event for students and employees to meet the officers is being planned.
