By Paul Miller

Knightly News Co-Adviser

On this episode of the Knightly News Podcast, we are joined by Career Services Director Steve Hassinger to discuss the upcoming Business Partner of the Year Breakfast. On the second segment, we welcome Gamma Beta Phi President Charyann Hernandez to share about her experiences at the group’s national convention in Knoxville earlier this year.

During the first segment of the podcast, Hassinger shared about the upcoming Business Partner of the Year Breakfast, taking place on Sept. 11 from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. in the Conference Center at Central Penn College. The event, honoring our Business Partner of the Year, our Intern of the Year, and featuring keynote speaker Kimberly Craig, is the largest event Career Services puts on each year.

Students, faculty and staff are able to attend for free. To register, go to http://givebutter.com/bpoy2025. Students should use promo code “STUDENT,” while faculty and staff should use promo code “STAFF” to get their free tickets.

Additionally, Hassinger also discussed two upcoming job fairs through a partnership between Central Penn College and Harrisburg Area Community College. The events will take place on the HACC Harrisburg campus on Oct. 7 (General Career Fair) and on Oct. 22 (Health Sciences) from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Interested students should reach out to [email protected] for more information.

On the second segment of the podcast, we welcome Gamma Beta Phi President Charyann Hernandez to discuss her experience attending The Spirit of Service: From Vision to Action, the organization’s national convention earlier this year.

The event, hosted in Knoxville, Tenn., allowed members of Gamma Beta Phi from all over the country to come together for four days of networking, professional development sessions, and discussions of how to improve the organization’s philanthropic initiatives.

Hernandez, who also attended the event with Vice President Jasmine Zarker, represented Central Penn College students for the first time. She noted how much she learned and, in hindsight, left with a clearer picture of what involvement in the organization means. The event website, found here, recaps the event with photos and commentary from the convention.

Gamma Beta Phi is advised by Dr. Amanda Stuckey and is actively seeking new members. To be a member, you would need at least a 3.2 GPA over 12 hours or more and an excellent record of community service. If a student has interest in being a part of the organization, please email Dr. Stuckey at [email protected] for more information.
