On Episode #226 of the Knightly News Podcast, we welcome members of the Central Penn Knights baseball team to take a look back at the most successful season in history and preview the 2026 season. Head Coach Chaz Stevens, senior Roniel Morel, and sophomore Kyle Brent join the episode and help review last season’s Small College World Series bid and look to the season ahead.

In the first segment of the podcast, the group looks back on the 2025 season, which saw the Knights set a school record with 26 regular-season wins, including a remarkable 13-1 record at FNB Field. The 2025 season also saw the Knights make their second appearance at the Small College World Series, winning their first game in the postseason tournament in Central Penn baseball history.

The conversation centered around a few specific games where, even in defeat, the Knights were able to take something positive away from their experiences.

As the first segment drew to a close, some of the seniors from last year’s team were discussed, especially the 2025 Knightly News Athlete of the Year, Owen Zell.

On the second segment of the podcast, the 2026 season came into focus. A variety of topics were discussed, including incoming players to watch and several players who will lead the team this season, as well as the amount of snow that Pennsylvania has received recently, causing problems with the baseball schedule in the early going.

Then, Morel and Brent discussed the leadership component they bring to the team. Morel, a senior this season, has played on three consecutive ESAC championship teams, while Brent started at third base as a freshman for the Knights last season.

As referenced on the podcast, Athletic Director Kasey Hicks came on the show at the end of last baseball season to recap the monumental campaign. That podcast can be found here.

The Knights have already begun play this season, and look forward to a tremendous homestand in mid-March. As always, you can see the schedule, the results and statistics at https://www.centralpennknights.com/sports/bsb/2025-26/schedule.
