For the second consecutive season, Weis Markets has agreed to become the season-long sponsor for the Knightly News broadcasts of Central Penn Knights baseball.
According to Weis Markets’ website, “Weis Markets and its associates are committed to giving back to the communities we serve. We are strong supporters of community-based health care organizations, food banks, emergency food providers and educational causes.”
The partnership, which has continued into its second year, spans both men’s and women’s basketball and baseball livestreams.
The sponsorship given to the Knightly News through the partnership with Weis Markets has been a welcome source of support, allowing the Knightly News to continue its mission of “indulg(ing) students’ interest in news reporting and broadcasting.”

Through this partnership, the sponsorship has helped create several opportunities for students involved with the Knightly News. These opportunities have included student participation in professional development experiences such as the Phillies #CollegeSeries and the Harrisburg Senators’ Business of Baseball event, as well as the purchase of equipment that helps improve the quality of student broadcasts. Funding from the sponsorship has also helped provide professional apparel for club members, including official Knightly News polos worn during broadcasts and events.
The Knightly News views the continued partnership as an important step in helping students gain real-world experience in sports broadcasting and journalism. By covering Central Penn athletics, student broadcasters develop skills in live production, play-by-play commentary, interviewing and storytelling while also helping bring greater visibility to the Knights baseball program.
Beyond the classroom, the broadcasts also help connect the college with the broader community. Fans who may not be able to attend games in person are able to follow the team through the student-produced broadcasts, while the experience provides Knightly News members with hands-on training that prepares them for future careers in media and communications.
The first baseball broadcast of the 2026 season is scheduled for March 18. The Knightly News will broadcast all of the home games the Knights will have this season, including home postseason games.
