West Shore Connect and Music Journalism highlight Episode #160
By Paul Miller
Knightly News Co-Adviser
On this episode of the Knightly News Podcast, we welcome members of the West Shore Connect Program to talk about “Connection Two’s Days” and their experience on campus and Knightly News Co-President Alexa Shughart to discuss the current state of music journalism.
During our time with West Shore Connect, we chat with Coordinator Shari Brenzier, mentor Abbee Breski, and student Adi Mujkanovic about the fall term, where the program has expanded from three to 11 students on campus.
Discussions also focused on the West Shore Connect/Knightly News Media Club documentary that was released in the spring, available here. The group discussed the impact of the documentary, what it was like to make the piece and memories of the production.
Finally, the group discusses the new club on campus “Connection Two’s Days,” where other clubs on campus can host the West Shore Connect group for an afternoon of fun.
On the second segment of the podcast, we welcome Knightly News Co-President Alexa Shughart to discuss one of her true passions, music journalism, in her final appearance as a student. Shughart will be graduating at the end of the term.
During the show, the duo discusses the music journalism industry, the impact the pandemic had on local musicians, and ways that those interested in music can still write about it in a positive way.
