On this episode of the Knightly News Podcast, we welcome the Dean of Student Engagement Adrienne Thoman to talk about summer events and Knights Athletic Director Kasey Hicks to recap the baseball season and look ahead to soccer, e-sports and volleyball.

During our time with Thoman, we preview several events on campus, specifically the upcoming CPC Film Series. This event will take place on Aug. 5 when Thoman will present “Dirty Dancing,” the 1987 classic romantic drama. Additional details for this event can be found here.

In addition, the duo discuss the progress of the CPC Gives Back initiative, called Project P.A.W. (Promoting Animal Welfare). After just one term, financial and volunteer goals are well ahead of schedule, with item donations closely behind. To this point, there will be a “Drive-in, Drop off” event on July 23 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the parking lots on Valley Road across from ATEC.

Finally, Thoman gave “Adrienne’s Featured Three” events for the summer term:

  1. BSU Karaoke and Open Mic Night – July 27, 7 – 9 p.m., Capital BlueCross Theatre
  2. Central Pennsylvania Pride Festival – July 30, Harrisburg
  3. Athletics and Activities Banquet – Aug. 4, 5 – 7 p.m., Conference Center

If you have any questions about the events on this podcast, you can reach out to Thoman at adriennethoman@centralpenn.edu.

On the second segment of the podcast, we welcome Knights Athletic Director Kasey Hicks to recap the 2022 baseball season and look ahead to summer and fall sports.

During our time with Hicks, we reminisced about the April 22 Knights baseball community night, where Central Penn College had the largest attendance at any athletic event in the school’s history.

In addition, Hicks discusses the new home for Knight’s soccer, the Skyline Sports Complex on City Island. The upcoming soccer season kicks off during the summer term, with the men’s home opener on Sept. 10 and the women’s home opener on Sept. 19.

Hicks also announced that our e-sports team would begin their varsity competition this fall, playing in the National Association of Collegiate E-Sports varsity division.
