Career Services and Residence Life highlight Episode #176

By Paul Miller

Knightly News Co-Adviser

On this episode of the Knightly News Podcast, we welcome the Director of Career Services Steve Hassinger to preview the upcoming Business Partner of the Year Breakfast and Director of Residence Life Lindsay Garber to discuss the new RA program and food pantry.

During our time with Hassinger, we got to preview two upcoming events. First, the Business Partner of the Year (BPOY) Breakfast on Sept. 7, then the CPEC Job Fair on Oct. 11. The theme for this year’s BPOY event is “Igniting Professional Excellence,” where our team in Career Services will be recognizing a company that has gone “above and beyond” in partnering with Central Penn College and our Center for Career Services & Development.

We are also joined on the podcast by Knightly News Vice President Andrew Hunter, who offers a student perspective on last year’s CPEC Job Fair. Here, he suggests ideas for how to approach the event as a student, especially with the research needed prior to the event.

For more information on the topics discussed on the show, you can always reach out to Hassinger at stevehassinger@centralpenn.edu or check this website for the Business Partner of the Year Breakfast or this website for the CPEC Job Fair.

On the second segment of the podcast, we had the opportunity to speak with the Director of Residence Life Lindsay Garber about a series of initiatives in her department.

First, the group discusses the new meal plan structure, followed by information about the CPC Pantry. According to Garber, the current term has seen a major uptick in the usage of the pantry from our students and also has things in addition to food like cleaning and school supplies.

The group was also joined by Knightly News reporter Sara Walters, who shares her perspective on the benefits of being a residence assistant on campus.

Lastly, the group discusses the new RA program, sharing the perks of the position and the number of opportunities in this area for residential students at Central Penn.
