The Pizza Corner is all the rave on campus right now.

One look at the Central Penn app student feed will prove that the new pizza shop, on Valley Road, across B Street from ATEC, is a huge hit among students.

Students were eager to share their opinions with the campus community, and the app quickly began to light up with pictures of students enjoying their meals from the new restaurant, and glowing comments about the food and the place, which opened around the beginning of spring term.

“It is a great restaurant to have right by the college campus,” Ethan Murray, who frequently visits The Pizza Corner to grab a quick bite between classes, said.

I decided to check it out for myself.

When you walk through the front door, the smell of fresh pizza cooking up in the oven greets you, along with the warm smiles of workers eager to serve you.

The menu is extensive, offering salads, hot and cold subs, wraps, appetizers, strombolis, calzones and, of course, pizza!

So far, I have tried one of the salads, a cheeseburger sub and a slice of pizza, and I have yet to be disappointed.

Some students shared their take on The Pizza Corner with me.

“Their garlic knots are really good, and they are very affordable,” James “Jimmy” Hallinan, said. “I have been there at least 20 times since opening and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.”

The great low prices are enticing for college students, with great deals, such as a two large-pizzas special for $21.99. A single slice of plain pizza will run you only $2.25, so be sure to grab a slice and try it for yourself.

“I think the prices are really good for the portions you get,” student Amber Funk said.  “I like how it’s so close to campus, where if I want to go grab a bite to eat after class, it’s easily accessible. I think the environment is laid back and not too loud, making it the perfect hangout spot for students.”

The Pizza Corner, which was previously called The Valley Road Diner, was bought last spring and has undergone remodeling and transformation throughout the course of the year for a grand opening, which was a huge success among the campus community. The folks at The Pizza Corner – Yuliya Shulhina-Reedy, Tomas Horak, Yuliya’s daughter Maria and Bulmaro (Romano) Melendez – are happily at your service.

“I’m a huge Pizza Corner guy,” Student Government Association Vice President Wyatt Delancey said. “Big pizza person.”

The Pizza Corner is open Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
