The Central Penn esports team, now in its offseason, will host a 2K and Madden tournament on Aug. 22 at 6 p.m. in the Capital Blue Cross Theatre.

With 2K being a basketball game and Madden being an American football game, anyone who is a fan of either sport can understand the premise and rules of the games. The version of the games — the year the game is from — will be the coaches’ choice.

Players can also choose to play CFB ’25, a college football game, instead of Madden, through the signup form when registering. The football-themed game may be Madden or College Football ’25 but not both.

Central Penn database systems analyst Mikeal Pecot and admissions counselor Donnie Lewis coach the esports team. They plan to hold two running tournaments in the theater, in the Underground—one for 2K and one for Madden or CFB ’25.

There will be one console system running per game, with two controllers each, so the tournament will be set up in a one-versus-one format, round-robin style. Pecot said the rules for the games will also stick as close to the real version of the sport as possible, so anyone familiar with the rules of basketball or football will feel at ease with them.

Anyone interested in participating can sign up by scanning the QR codes on flyers around campus.
