On this episode of the Knightly News Podcast, we welcome the Director of Career Services Steve Hassinger to discuss the upcoming Business Partner of the Year Breakfast and Harrisburg Senators networking event. On the second segment, Knights Athletic Director Kasey Hicks and women’s soccer coach Rudy Grubesky chat about the 2024 season.
During our time with Hassinger, we discussed two major events in Week 10. First up, the Business Partner of the Year Breakfast takes place on Sept. 12 from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. in the Conference Center at Central Penn College.
This year’s event theme is “Partnering for a Better Tomorrow: The Future of Early Talent Acquisition.” During the event, our career services team will recognize an organization that has gone above and beyond in partnering with Central Penn College and our Center for Career Services & Development. Students, faculty, and staff can attend the Business Partner of the Year event for free. Registration is required at https://givebutter.com/bpoy2024.
Also joining the podcast is Knightly News Reporter Noah Lopez, providing several strong action items for students to take when engaging in networking events such as these, including researching the companies in attendance and feeling comfortable with being uncomfortable.
The second event, the College Networking Night hosted by the Harrisburg Senators, is a unique opportunity to engage in career-focused networking with local businesses and sports teams. It will occur on Sept. 13 at FNB Field on City Island in Harrisburg before the Senators’ matchup against the Reading Phillies. For more information or to attend the event, contact Hassinger or Paul Miller to sign up.
On the second segment, we chat with Knights Athletic Director Kasey Hicks and Knights women’s soccer coach Rudy Grubesky about the 2024 season.
To start the episode, we recap the two teams’ successful 2023 season, including discussions about the team’s community service and classroom accolades, which were recognized at the Activities and Athletics Banquet earlier this year.
The men’s team, whose season begins this weekend with the Mont Alto Labor Day Classic, opens their home slate on Sept. 3 at Skyline Sports Complex on City Island in Harrisburg. The women’s team, whose season begins on Sept. 21, opens their home slate on Oct. 5.
The discussions also centered around the biggest game of the year, the doubleheader homecoming match-up against ESAC Conference rival Bucks County Community College on Oct. 18.
Admission to all soccer matches is free. Visit http://www.centralpennknights.com for the schedule of matches coming up this season.
